   Jeff Hanneman, guitarrista da banda de thrash metal Slayer, morreu nesta quinta-feira, 2, ao sofrer de insuficiência hepática. A informação foi dada pela página oficial da banda no Facebook.
    No aviso, a banda escreveu: “O Slayer está devastado em informar que o seu companheiro de banda e irmão Jeff Hanneman morreu por volta das 11h desta manhã, perto da sua casa, no sul da Califórnia. Jeff estava em um hospital quando sofreu de insuficiência hepática”.

Jeff ainda era um membro da banda, mas estava afastado dos palcos desde janeiro de 2011, quando ele contraiu fasciite necrosante ao ser picado por uma aranha. A doença, uma rara infecção subcutânea, quase o levou a morte. Desde então, sua participação no Slayer foi mínima, para que ele pudesse se recuperar, tendo tocado apenas uma fez com o grupo, ainda em 2011.

O guitarrista está ao lado de Tom Araya (voz e baixo) e Kerry King desde a fundação do Slayer, em 1981. O interesse dele sobre o Nacional Socialismo, que levou a Alemanha ao regime nazista e, depois, para a 2º Guerra Mundial, gerou polêmica em algumas letras da banda, como “Angel of Death”. A banda, contudo, sempre negou qualquer apoio ao movimento de extrema direita.

Além de se preocupar com as linhas de guitarra, com a qual ele protagonizava duelos caóticos com King, Jeff também compunha letras. São dele canções como "War Ensemble", "Mandatory Suicide", "Seasons in the Abyss" e "South of Heaven".

O músico tinha 49 anos e deixa a esposa, Kathy, irmã e dois irmãos. “Sentiremos muita falta”, completou a banda.

O Slayer havia sido confirmado para se apresentar nesta edição do Rock in Rio, na noite de 22 de setembro, última do festival, no Palco Mundo. Estão previstos para este palco a brasileira Kiara Rocks, Avenged Sevenfold e Iron Maiden. Todos os ingressos já estão esgotados.

Por hora ainda é cedo para saber o que vai acontecer com o Slayer , no momento todos estão em choque e a única coisa que desejamos aos membros da banda e a família dele é que fiquem em paz ...
