Good morning, good afternoon and good evening to all. This is a brief review of the show by the metal band Manowar that came to Brazil in 2024.
Before I talk a little about this band's show, I'll tell you a little about their history.
The American band Manowar is from Auburn, New York. The name of the group comes from a term used in archaic English, specifically man o' war or man-of-war, which is a type of warship that was in use between the 16th and 19th centuries.
Manowar has been around since 1980 and includes Eric Adams (vocalist), Joeydemaio (bassist and band leader), Michael Angelo Bagio (guitarist) and Anders Johansson on drums.
Their first album, Battle Hymns, which had a complete arrangement, an impeccable sound and a deep narrative, took the name Manowar to the world.
Their performances full of power, vocal excellence, charisma and dedication made the band achieve the success they have to this day.
The band has been to Brazil many times and whenever they can they say that the Brazilian public is the most loyal to metal. Because they say what they think. Whether they like something or not.
Vale remembers that the band has been around for over 44 years, meaning they are no longer as young as when they started but they still have the same love and dedication to music and metal.
During this week Manowar performed 3 shows in Brazil: Curitiba, Brasília and Recife.
In Curitiba they heard positive and negative points of the show.
Positive points -
New generations listening to the band because parents showed their children or grandchildren what quality music is.
A 28-year wait since the last time they came here. Fans who couldn't come to the show at the time because they were too young and the generation that was there at that time saw their metal warriors again.
They were in Curitiba in 1998.
Everyone in the band was excited, getting the crowd going crazy with their notes and voice. Everyone sang along to the band on stage.
Vocalist Eric showed off his talent, charisma, and excellent vocal technique. Showing that age is a number and not a problem.
Guitarist Michael Angelo Bagio sang along with his perfect notes and got the audience excited with his riffs.
Bassist Joey was a bit introspective, but he gradually got his riffs going and put on a show.
Drummer Anders literally broke the drums with his perfect solos in tune with the guitars and bass.
Negative points of the show.
The show was scheduled for 9:00 p.m. and the band arrived 45 minutes late. The real reason for the delay is unknown, but they gave an unforgettable show with all their heart.
There was a lack of communication with the audience. Something that existed in other years.
The band left without the famous encore.
It seemed that Joey was a little exhausted, perhaps sick. If that was the reason, we hope he recovers soon.
